Publish an item from a GLB
Seal a .glb as an immutable Continuum Package, turn it into an Item, and optionally open a Marketplace offer. Also where wearables and other character add-ons fit.
Authored content enters HELIX as a Package: an immutable, content-addressed bundle. A Package
Version is sealed once and never changes. An Item is an optional product made from an exact
Package Version, and a Marketplace offer is an explicit, separate step on top. This replaces the
old loose-mesh upload (helix item publish), which no longer exists: an Item is no longer created
from a bare file.
The three steps below were run end to end against the live platform with @hypersoniclabs/helix-cli
0.1.27.
What this page covers
This is the path for props: a GLB that is decor, furniture or any static or animated object. Wearables, avatars and other character add-ons use the character tools and carry an early access label. See Wearables and character add-ons below.
1. Seal a Package
The commands use a sample model, a small wall-mounted whiteboard. Download it, or substitute any
.glb of your own:
curl -fLO https://docs.helixgame.com/samples/whiteboard.glbThe sample is a real HELIX model
whiteboard.glb is the Wall-Mounted Whiteboard from the Hyperspace HQ world, about 27 KB. It
publishes as a private prop with no warnings, which makes it a safe thing to practise on.
helix continuum publish-glb whiteboard.glb --title "Whiteboard" --private✔ Sealed Package [email protected]
intent: 83d67468-286e-4c69-a91a-9835b8c774a9--private seals the Package on its own, with no public offer. --package-type character seals a
character instead of a prop.
Every run is identified by an intent id. If the connection drops, run the same command with
--intent-id <uuid> and the CLI resumes instead of publishing twice. Add --json to get the full
receipt, including the exact manifest CID you need next:
helix continuum publish-glb whiteboard.glb --title "Whiteboard" --private \
--intent-id 83d67468-286e-4c69-a91a-9835b8c774a9 --json{
"intentId": "83d67468-286e-4c69-a91a-9835b8c774a9",
"package": {
"packageId": "e679e0c7-2b28-4ef1-a3e8-494eea31f624",
"version": "1.0.0",
"manifestCid": "cid:sha256:0fcbc36ae35f868833a776428ca5e36d65488dc23ddc5ace66e0ddffb24cca8a",

"visibility": "private",
"created": false
},
"item": null,
"vaultListing": { "state": "skipped", "reason": "requested_none" },
"verification": { "ok": true, "warnings": [] }
}created: false shows the resumed run found the existing Package. verification.warnings carries
measurements to check against your intent; they are advice, not failures.
2. Make it an Item
helix continuum make-item \
--package-id e679e0c7-2b28-4ef1-a3e8-494eea31f624 \
--package-version 1.0.0 \
--manifest-cid cid:sha256:0fcbc36ae35f868833a776428ca5e36d65488dc23ddc5ace66e0ddffb24cca8a \
--content-rating everyone \
--title "Whiteboard" \
--personal✔ Package-backed Item 19041ba6-f8f0-4f67-8e55-41b5df03a873
package: [email protected]--personal keeps the Item private and without an offer. --content-rating is your attestation:
everyone, teen, mature or adult.
3. Open an offer (optional)
Offers are explicit. Pass --offer to make-item, or to publish-glb to do steps 1 to 3 in one
command:
helix continuum publish-glb whiteboard.glb --title "Whiteboard" \
--content-rating everyone --offer marketplace --price-lix 1200--price-lix 0opens a free Claim.--offer world --world-id <uuid> --distribution-key <key>opens a route inside one World.--starts-atand--ends-atschedule the offer, and--collectible-supply <n>makes a fixed-supply collectible instead of a Standard item.- Publishing to the Marketplace can charge a publish fee in LIX. The server states the exact fee and the minimum price in its answer.
Look after it afterwards
| Task | Command |
|---|---|
| Ship a corrected mesh to the same Item, in place | helix item publish-version |
| Move an Item to another sealed version, or roll back | helix item set-version |
| Render and check the Item headless | helix item visual-qa |
| Stop selling it (owners keep their copies) | helix item delist |
| Download the source of a Package you own | helix continuum pull |
Catalog thumbnails are rendered by HELIX from the Item's active Package Version and cannot be replaced. To show your own pictures, add them to the Item page.
Wearables and character add-ons
A wearable, hat, hairstyle or other character add-on is a Package of the character kind that
declares where it sits on the body and which body it fits. Preparing one uses the character tools
(helix character fit, helix character derive-hide, helix character fix-rig,
helix character check; see the reference) and the same Package
publication pipeline. This area is in early access and changes quickly, so this site does not
walk through it step by step. The authoritative, versioned guide is served by the
MCP server: call get_started with a character or wearable kind, and
read_skill for helix-avatars.
From an AI agent
The MCP server exposes publish_continuum_package for sealing Packages and publish_owned_item for
moving an existing creator-owned Item onto an exact sealed Package Version. It deliberately has no
tool that creates an Item from a loose mesh. See the MCP tool reference.
